Driver, passenger die in crash on U.S. 131 Thursday

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -- Two people died in a crash on U.S. 131 on Thursday, Michigan State Police announced.

On Thursday, troopers were called to U.S. 131, near Youngs Prairie Road, for a two-vehicle, fatal crash.

According to the investigation, a semi-truck with a trailer was traveling south on U.S. 131 when a 2019 GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling north crossed the centerline and struck the semi head-on.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their identities are being withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital for injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation.
