Driver pleads guilty in crash that killed motorcyclist

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The driver who struck a motorcycle on Bittersweet and killed the driver, Ricardo Yzaguirre has pleaded guilty to causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance in the blood and reckless homicide.

The court conditionally accepted Nicole Nelson's plea.

Nelson pleaded guilty without a plea agreement, according to court records.

Nelson will be sentenced January 31.

On June 6, 2019, Nelson was traveling south on Bittersweet when another driver cut her of. She told police she got angry and decided to pass the vehicle in a no passing zone, according to the probable cause affidavit.

While she was driving southbound in the northbound lanes, she struck Yzaguirre's motorcycle.
