Driver sent to hospital after failure to yield results in crash

ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of C.R. 3 and C.R. 26 around 3:48 p.m., Tuesday, for a two-vehicle crash.

Deputies' investigation determined a 2019 Nissan Murano, driven by 54-year-old Michele Burkhimer of Goshen, was travelling east on C.R. 26 at the intersection of C.R. 3.

Murano stopped at the stop sign on the west side of the intersection.

At the same time, a 2012 Dodge Ram, driven by a 55-year-old Elkhart man, was travelling north on C.R. 3 south of the intersection of C.R. 26.

Deputies say Murano failed to yield right of way to the Ram and entered the intersection.

The Ram then collided with the rear passenger side of Murano's vehicle.

Murano was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for complaints of chest pain.

Murano was also cited for Failure to Yield.
