Driver taken to hospital, arrested for OWI following two-vehicle crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the area of S.R. 19 and Roseland Road Thursday around 5:39 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash.
The report states a 2015 Chevy Equinox, driven by 64-year-old Dixie Athy of Elkhart, was traveling west on the driveway at 51426 S.R. 19, while a 2002 GMC truck, driven by a 67-year-old Three Rivers man, was traveling north on S.R. 19.
Authorities say Athy failed to yield the right of way and was struck on the driver's side by the truck.
Athy was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for a bruise to the head, while the 67-year-old driver was uninjured.
Deputies then got a search warrant for Athy's blood, leading to her arrest for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
