CASS COUNTY, Mich. - Four people were minorly injured in a one-vehicle crash on M-51 Thursday after the driver swerved to avoid a deer in the road, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the scene of the crash, just north of Indian Lake Road, at 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to deputies' investigation, a Dowagiac woman was driving north on M-51 when the deer ran out in front of her vehicle.

In an attempt to miss the deer, the driver reportedly swerved and the vehicle hit loose gravel on the shoulder of the road.

The driver and three juveniles who were in the vehicle at the time were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Everyone in the vehicle was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor, according to deputies.
