ELKHART COIUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of C.R. 17 and C.R. 18 around 9:27 p.m., Wednesday.
The report states a 2014 Nissan Sentra, driven by 61-year-old Yoleida Chacon of Elkhart, was traveling east on C.R. 18 approaching the intersection of C.R. 17.
A 2019 Kia Forte, driven by 57-year-old Deborah Martin of Goshen, was traveling south on C.R. 17 and entered the intersection of C.R. 18.
Authorities say that's when Chacon disregarded a lighted signal and collided with the passenger side of the Kia.
Chacon and Martin were both taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries including complaints of neck and back pain.
Chacon was cited for disregarding a lighted signal with bodily injury, while Martin was cited for possession of marijuana.
Deputies say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
