Early morning collision in Etna Township kills two, including 9-year-old

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. – A crash in Etna Township involving two cars kills two, including a 9-year-old boy on Sunday morning, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies identified Marlon Fuentes Sr., a 31-year-old of Goshen, deceased at the scene. A 9-year-old passenger in Fuente’s vehicle also was pronounced dead at the scene, according to deputies.

The crash took place at 2:08 am at the intersection of US 30 and CR 875.

According to a preliminary investigation, Fuentes’ 2011 Mazda was traveling south on CR 875 W, approaching the intersection of US 30, deputies said. A semi-truck was traveling westbound on US 30, approaching CR 875 W.

Deputies said that the Mazda allegedly failed to yield to the semi-truck to the vehicle at the intersection of US 30 and CR 875 W. The semi-truck allegedly hit the driver’s side door of the Mazda, killing the driver and passenger, according to deputies.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured at the scene, according to the report.
