Elkhart business wins 'Coolest Thing Made IN Indiana'
Elkhart Brass Manufacturing INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Chamber of Commerce announced an Elkhart firefighting equipment manufacturer won the "Coolest Thing Made IN Indiana" contest on Wednesday.
The company, Elkhart Brass Manufacturing, was honored at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s Best in Business Awards Luncheon at the Indiana Convention Center.
Elkhart Brass earned the award for its XD Glow‑in‑the‑Dark Smooth Bore Nozzle.
The company describes the nozzle as being designed to improve safety and efficiency by allowing departments to quickly identify the correct hose for specific conditions.
Elkhart Brass was founded in 1902 and is said to produce over 2,000 firefighting and fire protection products used worldwide.
“This competition continues to draw strong interest from around the state and showcases Indiana’s deep manufacturing roots,” says Vanessa Green Sinders, Indiana Chamber president and CEO. “The quality, creativity and real significance of some of these products make it clear why Indiana manufacturing continues to stand out. We congratulate Elkhart Brass Manufacturing for their title run and making their glow-in-the-dark nozzle, which plays a key role in firefighters’ ability to save lives.”
State officials say Shipshewana-based Stone Horses, which entered its model horse art, took the runner-up honor.
