ELKHART, Ind. — Connexions Church in Elkhart handed out free turkeys all morning on Friday. 300 turkeys were provided to families in need.
The Church said that this was a great way to alleviate the financial burden of the holidays and to ensure that everyone gets to celebrate.
"One thing I think about when I think about Thanksgiving is I think about family," a pastor at Connexions Church said. "And so it's more than giving food. It's giving people the comfort of being able to be with family and not having to worry about providing them dinner."
This is the third year that Connexions Church has handed out free turkeys.
Last year, the Church gave out 28 turkeys, but that number soared to 300 this year.
