Elkhart Community School officials take precautions over potential violence threat
ELKHART, Ind. – The Elkhart Community School System released a statement on Monday stating that they are aware of a potential violence threat for Friday, March 2nd.
According to the school, Elkhart Central High School became aware of a note in a girl’s bathroom that indicated a threat schoolwide.
“When a threat is made to our students, staff, and/or schools, we work diligently with the Elkhart Police Department to assess and respond to the threat. While the Elkhart Police Dept. has not found any information that would substantiate this message as a credible threat, additional precautions have been implemented to ensure the safety of students and staff.”
ECHS will have increased police presence, along with the other number of safety precautions.
“Parents, please support us by having a conversation with your child regarding the consequences of making threats toward students, staff, and/or schools. Please let your child know that if they make a threat of any kind, whether written, over the phone, or via social media, they will face suspension or expulsion, and the involvement of local law enforcement and/or federal agencies.”
