ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Council denied tax breaks to Steel Harbor LLC during a board meeting Saturday.
The corporation was requesting a five-year tax phase-in, arguing that their tax burden would eventually increase due to their annexation of neighboring land.
The council voted four to three against the resolution according to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.
Several council members cited insufficient time to review the request ahead of the meeting as a reasoning for turning the resolution down.
Steel harbor LLC can resubmit its application for a future vote.
