ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart County Sheriff officers responded to a vehicle roll over and crash off US Highway 33 this morning at 9:15 a.m.

The crash occurred when an eastbound driver veered off the right of US Highway 33 near Nappanee Street. The vehicle drove through a ditch and continued eastbound through a private parking lot.

After rolling over, the car came to a complete stop upside-down where it hit an unattended Ford Explorer in the lot, damaging its passenger side.

The car of the driver who crashed was heavily damaged and ambulance officials took the driver to the hospital for injured legs, abdomen and head.
