ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – The Elkhart County 4-H Fair is in full swing. Morning to night, the 9-day week is filled with entertainment for everyone.
This morning , the strong man competition had more than 50 contestants competing.
One contestant – competed today at the age of 69. “I’m here doing the strong man competition,” Joseph Dishman explained to ABC57.
The 5 event competition featured – the Hercules hold and farmers walk.
“I do it because the grace of god and uh I wanna try to stay in the best shape I can for as long as I can,” Dishman, the 69-year-old said.
Of course, fair week means food.
4-H Camera Club member Owen Sutton’s favorite food at the fair is deep fried Oreos.
But— today fair week even meant unexpected sights.
Whether it was for a comedy show, a ninja show, or saddle jumping, fair goers gathered to watch. Even a simple sound check for Daughtry had people filling the gradstands.
Daughtry is set to take the stage at 8 p-m Saturday. ABC57 is proud to be a sponsor of Saturday’s concert and several others in the series.
Tuesday there will be a sunset service from Pulse FM, and a concert by Newsong.
Casting Crowns is on Monday.
Tuesday is LANCO with special guest Walker Hayes.
Rachel Platten rounds out the concerts on Sunday.
The fair's general manager says the shows will go on rain or shine; they will only cancel them if there's lightening.
