ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.- 50 years and counting, Elkhart County Parks celebrate its 50 year anniversary with a free festival at Ox Bow Park.
These parks serve more than 325,000 visitors each year, with interpretative programs, special events, education community projects and park facilities.
2017 marks the 50th year of offering such programs and activities. At this festival expect to make crafts, play lawn games, listen to live music and more.
Andy Langdon, an interpretive naturalist at Ox Bow Park says throughout these 50 years population in Elkhart County has grown. He can’t wait to see what the future will bring.
“As it grows our park departments have a tendency to expand. We have all kinds of parks that we didn’t have when we first started back in 1969,” says Langdon. “We just keep expanding as population expands as we get more property to expand.”
