Elkhart County Sheriff's Department investigates string of suspicious fires

MIDDLEBURY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is investigating a string of suspicious fires.

The fires happened in Middlebury between 4:07 a.m. and 5:41 a.m. just a few yards apart on both Palmetto and Hilltop Drives.

The Middlebury Fire Department had their hands full entinguishing fires that set a home, car, and shed on fire -- all on separate lots -- at Pine Hills Mobile Home Park.

Adding insult to injury, detectives found a malicious message spray painted on a refrigerator inside the shed. They are treating the case as an arson as they continue to investigate.

Anyone with information about the fires and who may have started them in asked to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department: (574) 533-4151.
