Elkhart economy bouncing back

ELKHART, Ind. -- It's no secret Elkhart's economy was hit hard by the recession in 2008. Local businesses still make 85-percent of the RVs in the country, but several non-RV manufacturing businesses have broken ground in the county and there aren't enough qualified people for the jobs.

Erica Minix was a victim of the struggling economy.

"I started to get laid off from each RV office," says Minix, a staffing specialist for People Link.

She decided to change careers. Now she helps hire other people.

Kyle Hannon, the President of the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce, says Elkhart is adapting.

"Not every community comes back from major recessions like this,” said Kyle Hannon, President of the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.

If you're looking for clerical or industrial jobs, there are hundreds available right now in Elkhart. Contact Erica at People Link here or give her a call at: (574) 262-8050
