Elkhart fire leaves one firefighter injured on C.R. 7

ELKHART, Ind. – One firefighter suffered minor injuries during a structure fire along County Road 7 Sunday morning, the Elkhart Fire Department reported.

At 8:22 a.m., the fire department arrived to the 54000 block of C.R. 7 and discovered black smoke coming from the roof of a large, one-story detached garage with a possible apartment addition.

High winds and limited access made putting out the fire difficult but flames were under control after about 30 minutes.

No civilians were injured and one firefighter was treated and taken to the hospital for a minor injury.

The fire did not affect the home and the family was not displaced.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
