ELKHART, Ind – Today the annual Elkhart Riverwalk Grand Prix begins.
The event that sees adult and children’s races through the streets of Elkhart runs through Sunday evening.
The Grand Prix weekend saw 15,000 attendees in 2017 and event organizers are expecting a bigger turnout this year.
Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese says the Elkhart Riverwalk Grand Prix has a huge impact on the local economy.
“It’s a pretty substantial economic impact we will see restaurants primarily those downtown seeing an increase but I will also expect that we’ll see other restaurants adjacent to the downtown in addition to hotels doing pretty well” Mayor Tim Neese said.
The event features both adult and Kids races and will continue through Sunday.
