ELKHART, Ind -- In June 2021, the city of Elkhart welcomes back their beloved jazz festival after it was cancelled in 2020 by the pandemic.
With just over a month until the festival kicks off, musicians, downtown business owners, and fans are eager for the return of the cities largest event of the year.
"When you get to that weekend and there’s no jazz festival, everybody’s just kind of down in the mouth and thinking about what could have been." said restaurant owner Jeanni Kern.
This year's jazz festival will have a limited lineup of performers and tickets for each day will need to be purchased in advance. However, that does not seem to faze those who plan to attend the event.
"It’s just going to be a great overall feeling to have live music." said jazz festival musician Jim Catalano.
Before the pandemic, the Elkhart jazz festival was around for 32 years straight, which makes this year more appreciated.
"Of course, the festival will be a little bit smaller this year than it was but last year we had zero festival. And so, it’s just going to be a great overall feeling to have live music." said Jim Catalano.
