ELKHART, Ind. -- A 50-year-old Elkhart man is behind bars after an online tip led authorities to seize his laptop and two cell phones where they found access to hundreds of videos and photos of sexual abuse against children.
Daniel A. Parker has been charged with felony Possession of Child Pornography and Distribution of Child Pornography.
On April 28, a tip submitted to a cyber tip line was passed along to the Elkhart Police Department. The tip detailed a Dropbox account linked to a Hotmail account allegedly belonging to Parker.
In the Dropbox account, authorities found approximately 136 videos and images.
"[I] reviews approximately 20 images and videos that contained clear child pornography …" and EPD officer stated.
"A large amount of the videos/images were not reviewed but more child pornography is believed to be contained in the return."
On May 10, authorities executed a search warrant on Parker's residence at 202 Morton St. at around 8:30 a.m.
It was during that search that a Dell laptop and two cell phones that Parker told authorities were his, were seized.
Authorities say Parker told them he received child pornographic images over the past couple months from various messaging applications and has distributed them to "a couple" people.
"[Parker] advised the child pornography was collected on one of the phones as well as the laptop. [Parker] advised he uploaded the images/videos to Dropbox and advised he 'had plans to report them,' authorities said.
"I observed a box during a search of the residence that contained child clothing with children's panties/underwear at the top, [Parker] advised this belonged to a child that was supposed to move into the residence later today accompanied by a parent."
Authorities say when they searched the laptop and phones, they found at least 20 more videos/photos of children engaged in sexual activity that Parker had sent to "other unknown subjects in the app."
"[Parker] had also received child pornography and in messages he is asking for ages of subjects and asks for explicit material," authorities said. "[Parker] asked a subject he was chatting with if they've ever had sex with their family members and to go into the rooms of a child and to take photos of them to send to him. In one conversation he said 'I prefer 12 but I'll look at younger.'"
