Elkhart man has first hearing for shooting 5-year-old

ELKHART, Ind.- A man accused of shooting his nephew in the head could get 20 years behind bars.
According to the Elkhart Truth, Brian Grant had his first court hearing Monday afternoon in connection to the shooting of 5-year-old, Damaris McGhee. The 26-year-old will be given a public defender.
Grant is charged with possession of a gun by a serious violent felon. Little Damaris was shot in the head August 21st at his home. Grant shot the 5-year-old on purpose.
