Elkhart mayoral candidates attend third debate

ELKHART, Ind. -

The two candidates for mayor of the city of Elkhart have agreed to participate in a live debate on October 1.

Democrat Dick Moore and Republican Timothy Neese will participate in the debate moderated by Dr. Elizabeth Bennion, a political science professor at IUSB.

The debate will be from October 1 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the IUSB Elkhart Center, 125 E. Franklin Street in Elkhart.

The event is sponsored by the American Democracy Project, Political Science Club of IU South Bend and hosted at the IUSB Elkhart Center.
Candidates will address the audience with opening and closing statements focused on their candidacy.

Members of the audience will be able to submit questions for the candidates. Note cards will be collected and submitted to the moderator during the live event.

The event sponsors will formulate additional questions.

Candidates will have 90 seconds to respond to each question.

Attendees are invited to join the candidates for a reception after the debate.

In keeping with sponsor rules, audience members are advised not to wear t-shirts, hats, buttons, and other campaign paraphernalia supporting a particular candidate, party, or campaign. Candidate information tables will be available onsite.

This event is free and open to the public. Visitor parking is free in all campus lots.
