Elkhart Memorial honors Sarah Crane

ELKHART, Ind. -- Students and teachers at Elkhart Memorial High School honored former student Sarah Crane Monday morning.  Crane  lost her battle with cancer over the weekend.

There was purple as far as the eye could see as the students and staff mourned her loss and celebrated her life.

School started Monday morning with a moment of silence, followed by meetings with grief counselors.

Students plastered a wall with purple hearts with messages to Sarah and her family.

"I think what it meant from Sarah was, you can have these adversities and you can still be very strong and fight to the end," said Principal Mark Tobolski.

Sarah's visitation is Friday from 4 p.m. - 8p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home on Franklin Street.

Her funeral is Saturday morning at 10 at California Road Missionary Church on County Road 12 West.
