Elkhart Midwest Museum of American Art 38th juried regional exhibition opens
Elkhart’s Midwest Museum of American Art just opened it 38th juried regional exhibition Monday.
The art museum opened after passing out $33,000 in awards.
Our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth say this years exhibition is open through December 4th and it includes entries using a variety of current trends by artists from 18 northern Indiana counties and for southern Michigan counties.
This year 260 artists submitted more than 440 entries judges to consider and of those, 207 pieces of art were selected for the show.
Elkhart has the most representation with 21 artists. South Bend has 19 artists and Goshen has 12.
The Elkhart County Convention & Visitors Bureau sponsored the exhibition again, which is the largest art show with cash awards in Indiana.
The Elkhart Truth says that the museum has provided nearly $750,000 in awards to artists living in 22 counties around Michiana since 1979.
The museum is located at 429 S. Main St. and will be hosting a series of weekly Gallery Talks by area artists to help connect the public with the art and artists of Michiana.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students and $10 for families. Sunday is free Family Day.
