ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Parks & Recreation has brought back a popular youth program for the Halloween season.

Designed for kids 8 to 12, the "Zombie Apocalypse Police Squad" combines hands-on learning with imaginative play, teaching participants real-world skills like basic first aid, wilderness survival, and teamwork, before putting those skills to the test in a simulated zombie outbreak.

The training session is on Saturday, Oct. 4, where participants will learn essential survival skills and prepare for their mission.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, the recruits will face off against zombies with Nerf blasters and work together to save Elkhart.

“This program is such a fun way to get kids active, creative, and learning skills they can really use,” said Luisa Ixmatlahua, Program Coordinator. “The kids absolutely love it, and they don’t even realize how much they’re learning along the way.”

You can register your children for the program online. The cost is $20 per child.
