Elkhart Police Department’s K9 Diego receives a body armor donation

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - Elkhart Police Department’s K9 Diego has received a bullet and stab protective vest from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The group, which was established in 2009, aims to protect dogs of law enforcement across the United States.

Diego's vest is embroidered with a sentiment memorializing a fallen K9 officer from Bartholomew County, Diesel, who passed away on November 14, 2020, when attempting to apprehend a suspect who was wanted for two felony domestic battery warrants.
