Elkhart Police Department welcomes new officers

Elkhart Police Department: Mayor Rod Roberson, Ptl. Wiley, Ptl. Batchelor, and Chief Dan Milanese

ELKHART, Ind. -- During the Police Merit Commission meeting on Monday, Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson swore in two new officers to the Elkhart Police Department.

Patrolman Andrew Wiley is an Elkhart Central High School graduate and previously held a supervisory role at Lippert.

Patrolman Dillon Batchelor attended Elkhart schools until high school.

Batchelor then moved to Niles, before serving in the United States Marine Corps and then the United States Army.

Officials say this past summer, Batchelor completed an Army Career Skills Path internship with EPD.

City officials say Batchelor received his badge from EPD Detective D’Andre Biller, which was considered a special moment since he lived near Batchelor. Growing up Batchelor said he was inspired by Biller to get into public service, specifically to serve his community as a police officer.
