Elkhart Police investigating early morning shooting

Elkhart Police are investigating a shooting that happened at a home on West High Street Wednesday morning.

According to Elkhart Police, they were called to 424 West High Street just before 3:30 a.m. for reports of a burglary in process.

At the same time, officers were notified of a shooting victim in the 300 block of S. 2nd Street.

Police say it appears there was a disturbance at the High Street residence and the person was shot.

That person, who was shot in the arm, then fled to the S. 2nd Street area.

The shooting victim was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for what police say appeared to be a non-life threatening injury.

The investigation is ongoing.
