Elkhart Police officer accused of excessive force to plead guilty to deprivation of rights charge

ELKHART, Ind. - Elkhart Police officer Joshua Titus, who was seen on video beating a handcuffed man in 2018, will plead guilty to a deprivation of rights charge during a change of plea hearing on March 30, according to case documents.

Titus and a second officer, Cory Newland, were indicted in 2019 after the video was released.

In December, Newland was sentenced to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to violating a man's civil rights.
