Elkhart Police Officers respond to deadly shooting

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. On Sunday, Elkhart Police Officers responded to a shooting in front of a residence in the 300 block of Sherman St. that ended in serious injuries.

The shooting occurred at 1:35 a.m.

Officers arrived on scene located a victim who was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Ishmael Porter, 25 years old of Elkhart, was later pronounced deceased.

Detectives for the Elkhart County Homicide Unit were called in and are currently working the case. 

There have been no arrests at this time. Any further updates will be issued by the Elkhart County Prosecutors Office.
