Elkhart Police respond to reports of shots fired

Elkhart Police were called to 731 Monroe Street for reports of shots fired Friday just before 11 p.m.

When they arrived, they saw several people fleeing from the area.

They chased the subjects to the area of the 400 block of Aspenwald.

One suspect, a 16-year-old, was tasered, continued resisting, but was finally taken into custody

A handgun was located on the ground near teen, police said.

The teen faces charges of dangerous possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and resisting arrest by fleeing.

Police say two holes were located in the building at 731 Monroe Street.

Twenty shell casing and one live round were recovered.

No one was injured.
