Emotional video shows officers saving teen from ledge of bridge

COLUMBUS, Ohio. – In an emotional video posted to Facebook by the Columbus Division of Police, responding officers pull a distraught 17-year-old girl to safety as she threatens to jump from the ledge of a bridge.

The CDP says four officers responded to the Greenlawn Bridge where they saw the girl climb over the railing and onto the side of the bridge.

In the body camera video, officers dart to the young woman shouting, “Stop! Stop! Come here, hun!” and pull her back over the railing to safety.

The teen, while sobbing, is consoled by the police officers.

Her family arrives at the scene before she is taken to a nearby hospital.

In the Facebook post, the department says they are grateful for the officers, the teen for trusting them, and her family for caring.

The heart wrenching post has been shared nearly 600 times and has more than 40,000 views.

Officers say this is a good reminder that suicide can be prevented.
