Employee allegedly pulled under vehicle during shoplifting incident in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. - A gas station employee was injured on Friday after she was allegedly pulled under a vehicle while a shoplifting suspect was trying to leave the scene, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

At 5:17 a.m., an officer was called to the 2700 block of S. Main St. for a shoplifting report.

According to an employee at the scene, a female suspect was seen grabbing multiple items from the gas station's store before running outside and getting into a blue Honda Civic.

A second employee then ran after her.

When that employee reached the suspect, the suspect allegedly grabbed the employee's arm, pulling the employee into the vehicle as it drove away, reports said.

This act caused the employee to be pulled under the vehicle, police reports said.

The employee received multiple abrasions from the incident but her injuries were non-life-threatening.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The incident is still under investigation.
