Employees discover over 1,000 files of Child Pornography while fixing iPad

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A Wakarusa man now faces felony charges after Child Sexual Abuse Material was discovered on his iPad tablet by a repair shop.
Documents show 73-year-old Homer Long is charged with seven counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
Court documents show Long brought his iPad tablet to the business "uBreakiFix" in Elkhart. The device was sent to a different "uBreakiFix" store in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Once the iPad was repaired, a technician began testing the device and discovered the images and videos.
The business reported this to police, who were later provided with surveillance video of the iPad being dropped off. The video was used to identify the owner as Long.
The Kalamazoo Police Department took custody of the tablet from the store, and the device was later picked up by a Goshen police officer. A search warrant was approved for the iPad, and a forensic download was performed.
While reviewing what was on the hard drive of the device, the officer observed more than 1,000 images and videos of young boys and girls. Court documents state the material showed the children nude and engaged in sexual conduct with adults.
The internet search history for the iPad also contained several specific website searches to look for Child Sexual Abuse Material. Other contents on the device included photos of Long and text conversations which police used to further identify him.
On Sept. 22, the officer went to Long's residence in Wakarusa where he agreed to speak with police and was transported to the Wakarusa Police Department.
There, he admitted to police that he knew there were pictures and videos of Child Sexual Abuse Material on the iPad. Long went on to claim the pictures and videos kept popping up and downloading on their own and said he did not go looking for them.
He told police he was going to ask the repair technicians who were fixing his iPad how to get it back to factory settings. Police then informed Long that the material can still be retrieved after being deleted.
