ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is investigating a crash that happened on Wednesday morning near Shively Road, according to the sheriff.
Around 9:30 a.m., officers were sent to the 10100 block of Shively Road in southeastern St. Joseph County for a single vehicle crash.
At the scene, officers found two male victims with serious injuries. One of the victims had been ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.
Shane Allen Ketchum was identified as the 23-year-old driver who was treated for his injuries at a hospital.
Ryan Butts, 18, was identified as the passenger in the vehicle Ketchum was driving, and he remained in the hospital in critical condition.
FACT believes that speed was a factor in the incident when the car lost control and crashed into a pine tree.
