2 killed, 1 injured in deadly crash in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Two people were killed and one person is in surgery following a deadly crash in South Bend early Sunday morning.
According to St. Joseph County Dispatch, the call came in at approximately 3:31 a.m. on December 23 regarding three people involved in a serious crash on Western Avenue and Harris Street.

Authorities say a red car was heading eastbound on Western Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, striking two unoccupied parked cars.
Officials confirm two male passengers in the red vehicle were killed in the crash.
The male driver survived and was taken into emergency surgery.
No word yet on the driver's condition.
Alcohol containers were found in the vehicle, officials say.
The driver's blood alcohol level (BrAC) is being tested, authorities say.

The identities of the subjects involved in the crash have not yet been released.
Western Avenue was temporarily closed as a result of the investigation but has since reopened.
