Failure to Yield sends two Elkhart County drivers to the hospital Wednesday morning

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash that sent both drivers to local hospitals on Wednesday morning.
Authorities say 34-year-old Jonaisbel Araujo Perez was driving a 2004 Lexus ES west on C.R. 36, at the intersection of C.R. 1 around 8:11 a.m. when she started to turn left (south) onto C.R. 1.
At the same time, a 2017 Nissan Murano was being driven east on C.R. 36, approaching the intersection.
"[Neither vehicle had] stop signs at the intersection as the intersection is a two-way stop for north and south traffic," the ECSO said.
"[Perez] turned left in front of [the Nissan] and [the vehicles'] front ends collided."
Both drivers were taken to different hospitals with non-life-threatening injures. The report states the Perez had a possible broken leg, and the driver of the Nissan complained of back, neck, and chest pain.
Perez was cited for failure to yield the right of way causing bodily injury.
