Family of woman hit and killed by car need your help

The investigation continues into the death of Amy Mitchell, the 33-year old South Bend woman who was hit and killed by a driver while out getting party refreshments.

As officials work, her family is trying to grasp how to handle their unexpected loss. And now they are asking for the Michiana community's support.

They are hoping to get some help by throwing a bowling fundraiser at Joey Armadillos on 11th Street in Niles on December 28th at noon.

It's all to raise money for Amy's husband, Daryl, and their two little girls. According to his brother Ed Mitchell, who is organizing the event, the family needs help with funeral expenses.

The cost is $10 per person. And there will be prizes raffled off, including Notre Dame women's basketball tickets, gift cards, and some 50-50 drawings.

According to Ed Mitchell, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. The family has had a lot to deal with in a short amount of time.

“They didn't have any life insurance and it was coming around the holidays," said Ed. "This was totally unexpected. We have 2 kids involved that need to be taken care of as well. And a lot of people don't know this but we lost our grandmother in April.”
