Fans tailgating before big Notre Dame - USC game

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Irish fans all over Notre Dame's campus are excited for Saturday's big game.

“It’s a really good way for the whole school to get together before the football game,” Brett Uble, Notre Dame senior.

But between the gold and blue, bled some gold and red.

“I would like to think we have the upper edge in general, but no it’s a great rivalry to have, Notre Dame is a great school, and so is USC so it’s a lot of fun,” Anand Joshi, USC Grad.

Both Notre Dame and USC fans say the rivalry is what makes this single game the one to look forward to all season.

Steve Thorne and his friends road-tripped from Los Angeles to put up their Trojan tent.

“The Trojan pride is about fighting on," says Steve Thorne, USC Fan. "We came 2,000 miles, we bought this pass to be in the belly of the beast.”

And Michael DeCarlo and Chris Murphy may have their difference when it comes to their alma mater pride.

“No doubt USC,” says Michael DeCarlo, USC Grad.

“Oh God, no way just look around this parking lot right now, its no doubt Notre Dame,” Chris Murphy, Notre Dame Grad.

In the end, whether Irish or Trojan, they say it's all about the love of the game.

“Go to games like this, make good friends, that’s what its all about," says DeCarlo. "I mean you have two guys from New York out here in South Bend, Indiana, to see a great game.”
