Farmer killed after getting caught in irrigation equipment

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – A Plymouth man was killed when his clothing got caught in farm equipment, according to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.

The Coroner’s Office says 61-year-old Rick Pertics told his wife he would be tending to the irrigation equipment Sunday night.

When his family couldn’t reach him Monday morning, they went to the farm and discovered his body next to the irrigation equipment.

The coroner said his clothing got caught in a shaft connecting an engine and pump on an irrigation device.

His cause of death was severe internal injuries.

Final autopsy results will not be available for a few weeks.
