Pedestrian killed in crash on State Road 23, FACT investigating

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team (FACT) is investigating a crash Tuesday morning that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

Police were called to State Road 23 near 27th Street around 2:50 a.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian.

During their investigation, police learned a grey Chevy Cruz was heading southwest on State Road 23 when it struck a pedestrian.

According to police, the pedestrian was walking in the unlit street wearing dark clothing.

The driver was cooperative with the investigation, police said.

The 33-year-old pedestrian was found deceased at the scene and their name is being withheld pending family notification.

An autopsy is scheduled for December 23.
