Father found guilty and sentenced for 2020 murder of 3-year-old daughter

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office reports that 23-year-old Trevion Shaver has been sentenced to 55 years after being found guilty in the murder of 3-year-old Kardié Rose Weathersby, which occurred October 15, 2020.

Shaver was found guilty of two counts after his December 14, 2023, bench trial with Judge Elizabeth Hurley.

Friday, Shaver was sentenced for count one, murder, a felony. Officials say count two, aggravated battery, was not reduced to a conviction due to the prohibiting against double jeopardy.

Officials added since there was one victim, only one conviction can stand under the facts of this case.

Shaver was given a total sentence of 55 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office added the following statement:

"We commend our law enforcement partners from the former Metro Homicide Unit for their investigation and diligence on this case and the Prosecutor’s Office extends our sincere condolences Kardié’s family and friends."
