Father sentenced to 40 years in death of Javion Sexton

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Avion Sexton was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Friday for his role in the June 18, 2020, death of his one-year-old son, Javion Sexton, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office. 

On April 21, 2022, a jury found Sexton, 25, guilty on 13 counts. His charges include neglect of a dependent resulting in death, dealing in a narcotic drug, and possession of a controlled substance.

Sexton was sentenced to 40 years for the neglect of a dependent charge, 25 years for the dealing in a narcotic drug charge, and one year for the possession of a controlled substance charge. These sentences will be served concurrently.
