Father sentenced to 68 years in connection with death of son

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - A La Porte County man was sentenced to 68 years in prison on Tuesday for the battery and murder of his four-year-old son in October of 2021, according to case documents.

Alan Morgan pleaded guilty to one count of murder and one count of battery on a child, documents said.

Morgan's other charges, which included four counts of neglect of a dependent and one count of cruelty to an animal, were dismissed.

He was sentenced to 63 years at the Indiana Department of Correction for the murder charge and five years in the Indiana Department of Correction for the battery on a child charge. These counts will be served consecutively.
