FDA warns against jerky dog treats

The FDA is warning veterinarians and dog owners about treats that could make their furry family members seriously sick.

The FDA linked jerky pet treats, most which were made in China, to nearly 600 dog deaths since 2007.

Experts are still stumped as to what is making animals sick. In a last-ditch-effort, experts are asking vets to send in urine and blood samples from sick pets who ate the treats.

"It's very important to educate veterinarians so that we can educate our clients. And stopping them from eating the treats could reverse any damage that's been done," said Veterinarian Renee Smith.
