Field fire burns 10 acres in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.-- Fire crews responded to a large field fire off New Road near Miller Road in St. Joseph County, Indiana Thursday afternoon.

According to fire officials, the homeowner was burning brush and leaves and the fire got out of control because of the high wind.

The fire burned about ten acres before it was extinguished.

The Battalion Chief from Southwest Central is asking residents not to burn in the high winds, but there is no formal burn ban in place.
