Fire breaks out at Elkhart's abandoned Walter Piano factory

ELKHART, Ind. -- A fire broke out at the old abandoned Walter Piano factory in Elkhart.

That's at the corner of Beardsley Avenue and Michigan Street. It caught fire around 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Firefighters were able to put it out in about three hours.

Nearby residents say it's been an eyesore for years, despite efforts to put other businesses inside.

Prior to the fire, parts of the building's roof had already caved in and a danger sign had been posted outside side of the building.
