Fire damages historic South Bend building

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A fire damaged part of a historic building in downtown South Bend Tuesday afternoon.
Several units worked to fight the fire in the Marycrest building on West Western Avenue.
The fire was contained to an elevator shaft covering on the roof and did not damage the main structure.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
The Maycrest building was once part of the Singer company in South Bend.
