Fire officials warn that funeral service for fallen firefighter could cause traffic delays

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Fire Department is recommending the public avoid the procession areas for fallen Firefighter Captain Dave Koehler’s funeral service on Wednesday, August 14.

A Mass of Christian burial with full honors will be held at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 226 N Hill Street, South Bend.

The procession begins at 11:30 a.m. at Hill Street and will follow through the city.

The procession will travel from LaSalle Avenue going west to Charles Martin Sr. Drive, then a left turn on Charles Martin Sr. Drive, then a right turn on Colfax after passing Fire Station 2 going under the Garrison Flag.

The procession will continue north on Olive to Lincoln Way West and end at the South Bend Firefighters Union Hall, 4025 Lincoln Way West.
