Fire truck was cause of death for one victim in Asiana plane crash

SAN FRANCISCO — The coroner says one of the teen victims of the Asiana plane crash in San Francisco died after an emergency vehicle ran her over.

The 16-year-old girl was thrown from the plane in the crash, but was hit by a fire truck on the runway.

The coroner said she died of blunt force trauma.

The San Francisco fire chief apologized to the teen's family, calling it a "tragic accident."

"We're heartbroken. We are in the business of saving lives and many lives were saved on the day July 6," said fire chief Joanne Hayes-White. "I continue to be very proud of all the men and women of our department."

Three people died of injuries related to the crash.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash.
